Description
5th Grade Math Wall is a collection of 45 slides of math problems. Each slide has 9 problems. An answer document is included. Teachers have used this resource in several ways. I project it on the SmartBoard and have students work on their problems in a Math Wall Journal. These problems have a range of challenging to easier problems. My students place a question mark beside the number that they are struggling with. During our math discussions, students share their thinking. Other teachers assign the PDF to their Google Classrooms, but still have them work the problems out in their journals. I have included one pdf that has a problem page then answers. I have also included one pdf that has only problems and another that has only answers. The equations and true/false statements help build relational thinking. The focus on the 1st nine weeks is to build a foundation of understanding the equal sign and place value. Fraction sentences are also integrated throughout the nine weeks. Class discussions and students modeling how they solved their problems will help build a strong mathematical foundation for algebra.
