Tonight I was reminded of how wonderful teaching really is.  I know that may sound corny, but the truth is sometimes I forget why I became a teacher.  Don’t get me wrong I love all my students, but sometimes I wonder why I choose this profession when there are so many other choices out there.  I always come back to it is my God given passion, a passion to see kids learn! Tonight a parent posted a picture on Facebook and tagged me in it.  He said that his son loved reading and hadn’t stopped reading since he got home. This simple post made my heart soar. This is what it is all about, students loving reading, loving learning, and becoming who they are meant to become! I then realized that picture was a treasure, something that was priceless.  No monetary value could be placed on that feeling I felt knowing I had some little part in igniting the love of literature.  This particular student loved to read prior being in my class, but I was given the opportunity to deepen that love. Teachers can’t measure their pay in money they make because the moments we get, the lives that we impact, are truly priceless! I thank God daily for this opportunity in life to be called “Teacher” by my students!
