Description

STEM Choosing a Pet: Project Based Learning Activity gives students an engaging way to learn about economics and decision making while choosing a pet. Students learn important economic concepts such as wants, goods, scarcity, opportunity cost, and benefits as they decide which pet would work out best for them.

Students will brainstorm a list of pets and research several different pets using a graphic organizer. Students will collect data and make decisions based on those results. Students will then compare the costs and benefits of different pets. Students then compose an opinion writing piece using the examples from their research as evidence.
