STEM Challenges and Literature Connections are connected to the book I Survived the San Francisco Earthquake,1906 by Lauren Tarshis. This product will engage your students as they learn about the earthquakes and read this book. Students will research, design, and construct through these challenges. Students will love creating tents and pan for gold.

It is important to keep the challenges open ended so students will start thinking about other challenges or tests they would like to perform.
This product was created for a summer library STEAM program. Literature Connections have been added to adapt it to classroom use or for a STEAM Lab.
This activity can also be used for STEAM Activities, STEM After School Programs, Summer Programs, Clubs, Maker Spaces, or at home.
